Awoke this morning to clear skies and a couple of snowcapped Hawaiian mountains.

An Alaska Airlines jet lands at Kona international airport.  Snow covered Mauna Kea looms in the distance.

Mauna Kea from the rooftop this morning.  I like it when there’s cloud cover to the southeast like this, revealing the mountain’s peak several minutes before the rest of the island.

Things you can see at 6:08am from the perch on top of the house I built out of wood in a tree that’s really tall.

-The cloud rising from the lava lake in Kilauea Volcano’s Halemaumau crater.
-Mauna Loa, the most voluminous mountain on the planet.
-Mauna Kea, highest point in the pacific, and the golf ball observatories on top, where every night astronomers peer into the icy depths of space.
-The Purpetraitor up top the crow’s nest, gazing longingly at the two mountains, as one might look upon the breasts of a faraway lover…
-The sunrise reflecting off the Pacific, shining over the jungle.
-My sleepy-ass face

7am, still in bed, still watching the mountain.
This is one of those moments when Aaron is just terribly pleased with himself.

Still in bed (mosquito netting is up) and watching the sunrise illuminate Mauna Kea some 40 miles away.
I feel like it will be quite difficult to wake up in a shitty mood with a view like this every morning.
