Near the end of January I was up in Kohala for a few days camping around like I do. This was sunrise looking west out of my tent up at about 3,000 feet.
Finally back home after camping Kohala. It’s freaking gorgeous up there. It was whale soup along the coastline on my ride home yesterday. I counted nine in 20 minutes.
I camped on the desert side, which was refreshingly hospitable compared to jungle life. It was 76 and sunny pretty much the whole.time.
This photo was Friday morning along the northwest coast. That silhouette above the horizon is Maui rising in the distance.
Tonight I ate dinner on top of a cliff and watched the whales swimming up the coastline. Did a little freediving in a cove I found. It was like jumping into an aquarium - there’s very little pollution up here and almost no people. Freakin pristine reef conditions.
Pretty damn good day.
