Views of Kaalaiki road - the less-traveled scenic route between Pahala and Na’alehu.
I’d never been here before yesterday. I spent about 5 hours on the 10 mile stretch up the hill out of Na’alehu exploring the area.
We walk out of Malama Market in Ocean View and this woman is standing there with a Jackson’s Chameleon all like “Look what I found on my car!”, so I ask if I can take a photo of it and she goes “Here! It’s yours!” and she puts it on my shoulder. So now I have groceries and a Chameleon.
I nerded out for a bit and took a plethora of photos. We brought him back to the greenhouse at Purp’s place down the hill where he’s been snatching flies around the pencil tree since yesterday. Jackson’s Chameleons have become increasingly more common in Ocean View in the past 5 years and do pretty well in the small forest patches in the lava desert.
So that happened.
